Doodle A Day

Niko the penguin always knows how to cheer Kana the panda up. 7.11.2014

Hello! :)

It's been a long time since I last blogged. A lot has been going on including some new products in the works! My goal today is to get through everyone's emails and messages. I'm so sorry if you've been waiting for a reply but I promise all emails will be replied to by tomorrow!

In other news, I've started doodling daily again! But this time I'm introducing all the new characters so it won't just be penguin doodles. ;) So far, Kana the Panda has been seeing drinking root beer and making wishes on her Tanabata tree:

Sneak Peek: Sketchbook

My Dear Darling Sketchbook A peek at my first painting in my new sketchbook. It's totally a work-in-progress and by that I mean it may never be completely finished. ;) I add to it every night right before bed, even if it's just a line here or a spot there. Something about painting puts me in a completely different mindset – it's relaxing.

I've been painting more since the new year (here's a peek at another) and I think I'm finally starting to feel comfortable sharing peeks of my sketchbook! This might sound silly but when I started sharing my penguin doodles, I felt so embarrassed and shy like I explained in this post. I'm not too sure what's changed since then but I guess I've come to terms with the way I draw or paint. It's far from straight lines and perfect circles but those shaky lines are a part of me. And I'm okay with that for now. :)

What do you love doing that helps you relax? Have you painted with metallics? This is my first time and I LOVE it!!

Lots of Smiles, Akiyo
